In the car trail in Omega Park you will discover Alpine Ibex climbing on the rock faces.
Originating from Europe, this animal likes rocky areas. These climbers have amazing balance and will adventure onto the most vertical rock faces of the European mountains. The Alpine Ibex measures between 70 and 90 cm at the shoulder and between 140 and 160 cm from muzzle to tail. Its weight varies depending on the season, going from 65 to 100 kilograms.
Stocky, the Alpine ibex has short but solid legs, which enable him to take on steep areas with ease. It has a large neck and its eyes are quite far apart but the most outstanding characteristic of the ibex is its arched horns which are particularly pronounced in the males.
The fights between male ibex during the mating season are spectacular! The animals will rise onto their hind legs and launch at one another with their horns first. The impact and noise of their horns hitting each other vibrates in distant valleys.
