Job description
Parc Oméga is currently seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the day-to-day management of culinary operations. Under the supervision of the Chef de cuisine, the incumbent ensures the smooth running of the kitchen, coordinates the team in place and rigorously monitors compliance with hygiene, health and food safety standards established by MAPAQ and current legislation.
This position combines team coordination, technical supervision and active participation in kitchen production.
Main tasks
- Assist the Chef in menu development, task planning and team management
- Day-to-day coordination of the kitchen brigade: allocation of tasks, management of breaks, supervision and motivation
- Supervise the preparation, cooking and quality of dishes served
- Ensure compliance with MAPAQ hygiene, health and food safety standards
- Ensure constant cleanliness of workstations and kitchen equipment
- Check inventories, receive and put away orders according to FIFO methods
- Help train and integrate new kitchen recruits
- Manage unforeseen events and ensure continuity of service in the absence of the Manager
- Apply internal safety procedures and company policies
- Report weekly to management on issues, observations and improvements to be made
- Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment
Skills required :
- In-depth knowledge of HACCP, MAPAQ standards and MSSS regulations in the food service industry
- Positive leadership and the ability to mobilize a team under pressure
- Excellent work organization and priority management
- A keen eye for detail and consistency in the quality of dishes
- Autonomy, rigor, ability to anticipate operational needs
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and other departments
- Ability to manage inventory strategically (control, losses, rotation)
Requirements:
- DEP in professional cooking or equivalent training
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant kitchen experience, including 1 year in a supervisory position
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (MAPAQ certificate an asset)
- Good physical condition (prolonged standing, carrying loads, fast pace)
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as required
- Punctuality, commitment, attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle
Working conditions :
- Permanent full-time position (32 to 40 h/week)
- Variable schedule according to busy periods and operational needs
- Working in the kitchen in a dynamic, tourist environment
- Starting salary: $23/hour, variable according to experience and performance
