The black bears are equipped with a thick, shiny fur, very effective for cold weather. Their snout is light beige.

During your expedition in the park, you will see our black bears. It is the most common bear in Canada. An animal of great strength, it has frightening claws and teeth.

Males weigh 170 kg in average and females 135 kg.

From mid-November to late March, here, the bear hibernates. Well installed in a den or cave he sleeps all winter.

Females, mature at around five years old, give birth to cubs every second year. Born naked, blind and very small, they are weaned on their fifth month and hibernate with their mother for their first winter.

The black bear is an omnivorous animal and its diet consists of 75% of plants.
